Who Can Travel

Travel assignments are open to:

  • Registered Nurses (RN)
  • LPN/LVN
  • Allied health professionals
  • Technologists & Therapists

Common specialties include: Med-Surg • Telemetry • Stepdown • ICU • ER • OR • Cath Lab • IR • CT • MRI • Ultrasound • Respiratory Therapy • Surgical Tech • Lab • PT/OT/SLP

If your specialty is not listed, you can still apply — many roles travel.

Travel Pay & Stipends

Travelers receive compensation through multiple components:

Hourly base rate based on specialty & facility.

Housing & Travel Logistics

Travelers can choose between:

✅ Stipend Housing
Most clinicians select tax-free stipends and book housing independently. This offers flexibility for pets, family, or preferred neighborhoods.

✅ Assisted Housing
Voyage can help coordinate or arrange housing upon request.

Travelers frequently book through: Airbnb, Furnished Finder, Hotels, Short-term rentals, Travel nurse groups and more.

Licensing & Compact States (NLC)

Nursing requirements vary by state. Many states participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), allowing nurses to practice across multiple states using one multistate license.

If you need licensing support, Voyage assists with:

  • License verification
  • BON requirements
  • Start dates vs license timelines

For non-NLC states, single-state licenses are issued individually.

Allied Health Requirements

Allied professionals may require:

  • Specialty certifications
  • ARRT / ASCP / NBRC credentials
  • State licenses for therapy & imaging roles
  • BLS/ACLS for select specialties

Assignment Length & Schedule

Most contracts are:

13 weeks, with some ranging from 8 to 26+ weeks depending on facility demand.

Schedules may include:

Extensions are common if both traveler & facility agree.
